Celebrating the crazy of pet parenthood

Dear Daisy

Dear Daisy,

I can’t believe it’s been almost two months since you had to leave us. It seems like yesterday, and it seems like last year. I’ll admit, I’ve been avoiding the blog. I’ve been avoiding it because I knew I needed to say goodbye to you in writing. And then I had a dream last night. In all honesty, I don’t remember the content of the dream at all, other than to know I woke up sobbing. I don’t even know if you were there, but I suspect so. I suspect so because this morning I awoke with the idea that made me sob anew.

We will write you letters. Letters that share the adventures that the Crazies get into, that let me share my grief when it creeps in, and that simply keeps us connected as only a family requires. It won’t be the same as grabbing your big, squishy slobber face and kissing your forehead, but I think it might help. Based on the number of tears I’ve shed since I started writing this, it will.

Oh Daisy, we still miss you like mad, but just this… these two brief paragraphs, has started to fill the (very big) hole that was left. I look forward to reconnecting, and to sharing the daily joy of the crazy crew.

So be good sweet girl, and we’ll talk soon.

Love,

Mom
